This summer we are offering a Zoom Whitening special so I thought what a great opportunity to blog about teeth whitening!

Tooth discoloration can result from myriad causes including: the aging process, smoking, coffee, tea, and red wine. When we whiten the teeth we are whitening from the inside, (the dentin), and the outside, ( the enamel). The average patient will experience a whitening change of 8 shades lighter then their original color!

The Zoom whitening process is fairly easy and straight forward. First, we will complete a comprehensive evaluation to determine if you are a candidate for in-office whitening. Some issues that may preclude you from whitening would be crowns, bridges, or fillings in the front of your mouth as these materials do not respond to whitening. If you are planning to replace any of these though, whitening first and then matching your fillings, crowns and bridges to your newly whitened teeth is a great idea to achieve an optimal cosmetic result!

Once we determine that you are a candidate for Zoom whitening we will place you on a prescription desensitizing toothpaste for a minimum of 2 weeks before the procedure to decrease the likelihood of sensitivity post treatment. We are using the newest, latest and greatest generation whitening LED accelerator that gives us three choices of light intensity. Together we will decide which setting best suits your needs. The procedure takes about one hour in 3-4 fifteen minute sessions. We provide music, a pillow and blanket for your comfort so you can sit back and relax while we do all the work!

The aftercare is easy, just avoid any dark liquids or foods for the first 24 hours. You will experience years of a whiter and brighter smile! Ask any team member if Zoom whitening is right for you so you can take advantage of our whitening special today!
